Trinity is located at 35°52′25″N 80°0′37″W (35.873522, -80.010158). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 17.0 square miles (44 km²), of which, 16.9 square miles (44 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km²) of it (0.59%) is water.
